Privacy Policy
How we handle your data.
The Bistro Spotlight is a static editorial publication. We don't run a newsletter, an ad network, an analytics dashboard, or an accounts system. Your visit here is quiet by design. Last updated .
What we collect
From you: nothing. We do not use tracking cookies, pixel tags, or embedded analytics. We do not run advertising. We do not have accounts, comments, or contact forms that would ask for your name or email.
From your browser: what any web server sees. When you request a page, our hosting provider records standard server logs — your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser's user-agent string, and the time of the request — for a limited retention window so the platform can defend against abuse and maintain uptime.
Third-party services we use
The Bistro Spotlight runs on a small number of services that are necessary to serve the site. Their own privacy policies apply to whatever data they collect on their end.
- Cloudflare Pages — hosts the static site and handles CDN delivery, HTTPS, and DDoS protection. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — serves the display and body typefaces (Fraunces, Source Serif 4, Libre Caslon Text, PT Serif, Caveat). Google receives a request from your browser to load font files. Google's privacy policy.
- Images hosted by us — every photograph on the site is served from our own domain (or, on some legacy pages, from the Wikimedia Commons and Unsplash CDNs credited on the individual spotlight).
What we don't do
- We do not sell, rent, or share reader data with anyone.
- We do not build behavioral profiles or track you across sites.
- We do not run programmatic advertising.
- We do not sync your visit with social media platforms.
- We do not accept payment for editorial coverage of any kind.
Children
The Bistro Spotlight is intended for a general adult audience — food writing, restaurant coverage, occasional cocktail talk. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data from readers, there is no profile to access, correct, or delete. If you are a photographer, restaurant owner, or interviewee whose work or likeness appears on The Bistro Spotlight and you would like an adjustment, attribution change, or removal, please contact us — we will act quickly.
Where applicable law (such as GDPR, CCPA, or similar) provides additional rights, we honor them. Reach out through the About page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site's technical stack evolves. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page. If we ever add analytics, a newsletter, or any user-facing form, we'll say so clearly here first.
